THE DUTCH STRIKE FIRST FOOTBALL FANS UNLEASH 'TAPE ATTACK' ON DAM SQUARE
The World Cup 2010 draw has just been released and the Dutch are already laying down their claims to victory – literally. A rally cry from the fans signals the battle for the cup is about to begin.
Over night in Amsterdam's Dam Square a group of die-hard Dutch fans taped one gigantic World Cup Group Draw to the ground. Created using only orange and white tape, Holland's path to taking home the cup is clearly visible with an orange line taped through the group stages all the way through the final to glory. The football Holy Grail is represented by the Dutch word 'BEZET' (taken) taped to the ground in the winners spot.
The 'Tape Attack' is inspired directly from Dutch culture, and specifically, Amsterdam's Queens Day celebrations where people claim their street market stall space the night before by taping off an area and writing BEZET.
Also released is a :90' film of the 'tape attack', created by Wieden+Kennedy Amsterdam for Nike, and shot by Johan Kramer. Footage can be seen on the nike.com/football website and the Nike youtube channel. All photography was captured by Yamandu Roos.
